Catherine Godfrey, MD, FRACP

Senior Technical Advisor, HIV Care and Treatment, PEPFAR / Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator

Dr. Godfrey is an infectious disease physician with extensive experience in HIV, TB, and STIs. She is the senior technical advisor for adult care and treatment at the Office of the Global HIV AIDS Coordinator. She has published extensively on treatment issues for people living with HIV.  Prior to coming to PEPFAR she was at the NIH and received the Constance Wofsy award from the AIDS Clinical Trials Group for her scientific contributions to women’s health and the Donna Davis award for contributions to the community.

She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having spent many years in New Zealand where she was an infectious diseases consultant and clinical head of Medical Subspecialties at a 700-bed teaching hospital in Auckland. She currently leads PEPFAR’s COVID-19 response, and is championing activities aimed at reducing mortality for individuals living with HIV.
