Risk‐based versus universal PrEP delivery during pregnancy: a cluster randomized trial in Western Kenya from 2018 to 2019

Pregnant women seeking routine MCH care were randomized into Universal (all received PrEP counseling and self-selected whether to initiate PrEP) or Targeted (HIV risk assessment to determine PrEP offer). There was no difference in maternal HIV incidence or frequency of appropriate PrEP use between arms. The researchers concluded that universal PrEP is best for integrating into MCH systems.
